The New Zealand bird views series highlights the common birds in New Zealand – the birds we view every day but tend to take for granted because they are always there. Each book presents over 100 previously unpublished photographs of the species that are commonly seen in New Zealand. The books show birds flying and/or swimming, feeding, nesting and raising their young. The text provides some background detail and the photos are used to illustrate the birds' lives as much as possible.
These books are highly pictorial and of interest to anyone of any age who is interested in New Zealand's birds. The books are all 8.5" square format with 49-65 pages and are published on Lulu. They can also be seen on Google Books, and purchased either direct from Lulu or through other Internet booksellers.

Only two species of oystercatcher are seen in mainland New Zealand:
SIPO breed in the South Island but migrate to various North Island estuary locations from February onwards. Variable oystercatchers are more sedentary, occupying estuaries and ocean beach habitats all year round. They are often used to the presence of people and with a bit of patience will allow close observation, even when raising their young.

Coming in 2023 - Rails: including coots, pukekos and wekas.
I have been side-tracked with other projects including those on the <Other books> page. Following retirement in 2021 I set out to get all of my photos sorted and indexed. This has taken longer than I expected, but more books are coming. The rails book is running late, but is underway and will be followed by others.
