giant shore anemone

Seen in grey as well as various colours of pink to purple, this is an attractive anemone. The centre fills with sand, leaving the ring of colour visible.

The rarer reef heron is a darker grey than the common white-faced heron and has a much heavier bill. It is also relatively shy. I took this photo from the car window.

When Simba comes to visit, the new poly box gives him somewhere to sit on top and is warm and dry inside when it rains. He was there the morning after a wet night, then went home for breakfast.

This female sparrow has a number of white feathers, giving it a very unusual appearance. I have seen it several times since late last year, but this is the best photo so far.
