tui in a cherry tree
Tuis love the nectar from the dark pink Taiwanese cherries that flower in late winter. The tui looks black from a distance but in the sun the iridescent sheen contrasts with the white throat tuft.
The fantail flits around catching insects on the wing using its tail to disturb its prey into the air.
