This is probably the same white heron as that seen in the photo below (5 June). This time it was feeding in water-logged pasture along with a flock of smaller white-faced herons. The farm trough was a good place for a drink of fresh water.
Different day, different estuary. The spoonbill struggled with the flounder which was too wide for it to swallow, but it tried very hard.
The white heron was feeding near a small flock of royal spoonbills. The spoonbills were relaxed about my presence but the heron was nervous and watched me until I left.
My intention with this page is to highlight one photo from each outing and tell its story in a couple of sentences. The subjects will vary - it will be whatever caught my eye or was most special on that day.
