I found this while pruning the grape vine. I have left it undisturbed since and there are signs that the young might be about to come out.
The spotted doves tried chasing the sparrows away but gave up and both species shared the seed on the feeder.
I spotted a commotion across the river and saw a family of pied shags where the adults appeared to be trying remove themselves from the youngsters persistently begging for food. The immature birds still show some mottling but are fully fledged and able to care for themselves.
This page highlights one photo from each outing. The subjects will vary - it will be whatever caught my eye or was most special on that day.
