simba lurking on the shed roof
octopus in danger
This is how I found this small octopus - high and dry and upside down at low tide with a number of gulls hanging around. I carefully moved it to the nearest rock pool where it seemed to recover well but had no hiding place and was still vulnerable to attack. I stayed with it for half an hour then moved it to a better rock pool where it would be safe until the tide came in.
It's great to see wildlife enjoying the waves. This seal was basking in the sun and riding the waves.
This was a great day for shell collecting. Unbroken tun shells are rare on the beach, and this 11cm one wasn't even the best of the day.
