riding the rapids
Mother mallard/grey duck hybrid and her duckling swimming upstream at a small weir. They struggled a bit in the current but eventually succeeded.
worm for dinner
red-billed gull chick
The octopus encounter below was a bonus on this day - my real purpose was to check out the red-billed gull colony on the cliffs. They were showing well, with several babies of different ages in view.
whelks for lunch
The octopus checked and declined the limpet I gave it, and also some small mussels. After a while some whelks came out to feed on the mussel meat and the octopus rounded them up.
A mouthful of food for the nestlings but Simba was hanging around. The lowered wing position is part of the blackbird's alarm signal. I engaged the cat and the babies got fed.
This page highlights one photo from each outing. The subjects will vary - it will be whatever caught my eye or was most special on that day.
