This road is adjacent to an estuary frequented by spoonbills, so seeing birds in the area is not unusual. Seeing one on the road like this is a first for me.
I pulled over to take the photo, and the bird flew off before the oncoming car became a danger. The car pulled to the side and stopped anyway, and as I moved off the driver had his hands over his face in a gesture of amazement. It looked like he didn't believe what he had just seen.
